What is a preparation for childbirth class?
It is a class to educate a pregnant woman and her partner to assume an active and fulfilling role in childbirth.

What are the benefits in attending a class?
Most expectant parents eagerly await the coming of the baby but at the same time there is fear regarding labor and delivery. Classes will give you an understanding of what's happening to your body, knowledge of the birth process - labor and delivery, learning techniques that can help can minimize all these fears.

Is childbirth preparation really important?
Yes it is! It helps build your confidence - one aim of preparation for childbirth is to teach you that you can give birth safely and wonderfully, even though its your first time. It teaches the couple relaxation, breathing, massage and other techniques which can block or minimize pain. Also, it helps your partner understand labor - certified instructors can show your partner important ways to provide you with both physical and emotional support.

How long are the classes?
Classes runs once a week for six weeks. Length of time is from 2 1/2 - 3 hours per meeting.

Can we afford the class?
Yes. The fee is currently at PhP4,000.00 for the whole 6 meeting class. Anything is affordable if you set your heart to it.

How early can we start classes?
The best time to start is when the woman is on her 6th - 7th month of pregnancy. It is also important to inquire early in the pregnancy - to be informed on the schedules.

How do I calculate my expected date of delivery or EDD?
A normal human gestation is 40 weeks. A usual basis for calculating EDD is the LMP (or the Last Menstrual Period) which is the 1st day of your last menses. From this date, count 40 weeks hence and the day of that week is your EDD.

When do I go to the hospital?
As soon as you suspect you are pregnant, it is best that you see your OB-Gyne right away. First, to confirm the pregnancy and also, to guide you in ensuring a safe and healthy pregnancy, labor and delivery.

Who are the instructors in the Prepared Childbirth Classes?
The instructors in our classes are certified childbirth educators having gained credentials as such from the PACE (Philippine Association for Childbirth Education). They have also been members of the ICEA (International Childbirth Educators Association and have gained personal experiences as mothers and expertise as instructors.

How do I sign up for a class?
Just call any of the listed certified instructors and make inquiries about the schedules and venues. Provide information as to your preferred class groups and make reservations for your slot in that class.
